what is the defination of the word "FRIEND"?

i'm begining to wonder the true meaning of it.
all along i thought that.
- been friends shouldnt be so calculative.
- been friends should tolerate one another misgiving
- been friends shouldnt only see your own needs
- been friends shouldnt be selfish

but after all this while. it prove me wrong.
i'm begining to wonder, think if this people around me are really my friends.
i'm begining to wonder, if my meaning of "friends" is wrong all the while.

what is the real defination then?
